YI-DAN CHA GI Martial Arts Center, 3305 Niagara Falls Blvd., Wheatfield, will hold a special event on Saturday, June 11, hosting the president of the U.S. Martial Arts Hall of Fame, professor Marty Cale.

Cale will be instructing a seminar that will be open to the public, 18 years or older. During this seminar, participants will learn real self-defense for the real world. The martial arts style is Krav Maga, a quick, no-nonsense form of self-defense. This seminar has been seen on the Discovery and History channels.

Cale is a 10th degree black belt and a Krav Maga expert. Cale will begin the seminar with a discussion of how the law defines self-defense. Those in the martial arts know that attempting to defuse the threatening situation is the first defense.

No experience in the martial arts is required to take this seminar.

"Everyone should know some type of self-defense," Grandmaster Jim Wood, owner of YI-DAN CHA GI Martial Arts Center, said.  "This seminar is excellent for those who work late hours, others in a criminal justice positions, those entering a military branch or just the average person wanting the knowledge of protecting themselves and their family".

Wood was inducted into the U.S. Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2003. In 2005, his business was named "School of the Year" by this organization.  Since 2009, Wood has been on the grandmasters testing board for the International Martial Arts Council, working with Cale.
