Erie County Sheriff's Department Report for April 8, 2011

The Erie County Sheriff's Office reports its officers responded to 170 calls from March 28 to April 3. Below are the incidents about which the ECSO will reveal information.

Monday, March 28

•Larceny, Pleasant Trail - A complainant reported to patrol that his vehicle was entered over the weekend. A radio faceplate and two pairs of sunglasses were taken.

•Residential burglary, Towerwood Road - A complainant reported to patrol that his residence was burglarized recently. Items missing included an air compressor, Dewalt tool kit and a CD player. Patrol noted that the door to the residence appeared to be pried open. The investigation is ongoing.

•Alarm ringing, Ransom Road - Residential alarm ringing. False alarm.

Tuesday, March 29

•Larceny, Trails End - A complainant reported an unknown person attempted to purchase some items online with his credit card. The attempt was unsuccessful.

•Alarm ringing, Deerwood Lane - Residential alarm ringing. False alarm.

•Larceny, Woodstream Drive - A complainant reported a GPS unit was taken from a vehicle.

•Residential burglaries, Whitehaven Road - Complainants at two neighboring houses reported their residences had been burglarized. A United Parcel Service driver, while he was delivering a package, noticed a glass door on a residence had been shattered, and he called 911. Items taken included cigarettes, jewelry, a leather jacket and an undetermined amount of change. At the neighboring residence, patrol found similar circumstances: a door to the residence was smashed and the complainant stated that numerous items of jewelry were taken. Erie County Sheriff's Office detectives and deputies investigated and later arrested of two men. Kevin Blair, a 23-year-old from Kenmore, and Timothy Braun, a 27-year-old from Tonawanda, are charged in connection with the burglaries and another burglary that occurred on East River Road on March 22. Braun faces 10 felony charges along with five misdemeanors, while Blair faces seven felony charges along with five misdemeanors. Both men were arraigned in Grand Island Court on March 30 in front of the Judge Mark J. Frentzel and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center pending further court proceedings.

Wednesday, March 30

•Suspicious incident, Stony Point Road - A complainant reported that she arrived home to find the front door of her residence open. The complainant did not notice anything missing or disturbed. Patrol checked the residence with negative results.

•Alarm ringing, Staley Road - Residential alarm ringing. False alarm.

•Alarm ringing, Colonial Drive East - Residential alarm ringing. False alarm.

•Alarm ringing, Countryside Lane - Residential alarm ringing. False alarm.

Thursday, March 31

•Traffic arrest, Grand Island Boulevard - Erie County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a 39-year-old Niagara Falls man for driving on a suspended license as well as another vehicle and traffic violation following a traffic stop and Department of Motor Vehicles check. The man was issued traffic tickets for Grand Island Court.

•Alarm ringing, Towerwood Road - Residential alarm ringing. False alarm.

•Alarm ringing, Oak Harbor Road - Residential alarm ringing. False alarm.

Friday, April 1

•Alarm ringing, N. Colony Road - Residential alarm ringing. False alarm.

Saturday, April 2

•Alarm ringing, Oak Harbor Road - Residential alarm ringing. False alarm.

Sunday, April 3

•Alarm ringing, Baseline Road - Patrol investigated an alarm ringing at a data systems business. False alarm.

•Reckless operation, Love Road - A complainant stated two cars were racing each other up and down the street. Patrol was unable to locate the cars.

•Alarm ringing, Bronson Road - Residential alarm ringing. False alarm.
