The Niagara University Student Government Association announces critically acclaimed British R&B singer/songwriter Jay Sean will perform in the university's Gallagher Center on Friday, April 1, at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the event.

Cali Swag District will serve as the show's opening act.

Born in the London borough of Hounslow, Sean is recognized as being one of the first British-Asian crossover stars to achieve major success in the U.S. His debut single, "Dance with You (Nachna Tere Naal)," became a major hit in the United Kingdom in 2003, prompting Virgin Records to sign him to a recording contract. After releasing a pair of hit singles ("Eyes on You," "Stolen") in the U.K. and India, Sean turned his focus toward America in 2009 when he signed with the Cash Money label. His American debut single, "Down," topped the Billboard Hot 100, making him the first solo artist of South Asian origin and the first U.K. urban act to accomplish that feat. "Down" was followed by "Do You Remember," another track off of Sean's "All or Nothing" album that would reach platinum-selling status. Sean, who has collaborated with mainstream artists such as Akon, Sean Paul, Birdman, Estelle and Mary J. Blige, is presently touring in support of his most recent release, "Freeze Time."

Tickets are $20 for the general public and go on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets (1-800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com), including Dwyer Arena, on March 19.
