Town of Niagara Police Blotter

The following is a sampling of the calls the Town of Niagara Police responded to between July 19 and 25.

Monday, July 19

• A resident of the 80 block of Expressway Village reported a larceny. The resident stated a group of people she let in her home stole her son's Playstation. Upon arrival, she no longer wished to file a report with police.
• Patrol responded to an employer who stated he wanted his personal property recovered. The male stated a recently dismissed employee took his long guns and ATV. The dismissed employee did not threaten the use of weapons. The employer requested patrol secure the weapons, even though he was permitted to bring them to work and was denied. Patrol advised the employer to make arrangements to remove the property.
• Patrol responded to a domestic dispute between a grandmother and her 14-year-old granddaughter at a business at the 4200 block of Military Road. The granddaughter slapped her grandmother after she took away her cigarettes and marijuana. The grandmother did not wish to press harassment charges, but asked to turn the marijuana over to police.

The minor was subsequently charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and scheduled to appear in family court.

Tuesday, July 20

• Patrol observed an open garage door on the 4700 block of Theresa Lane. The resident was advised to close the door.
• Patrol was dispatched for a large boulder in front of a business on Military Road. The area was checked with negative results.
• A resident on the 8500 block of Porter Road reported a domestic dispute. A mother and son had been arguing over computer usage. The son agreed to leave for a few hours to calm down.

Thursday, July 22

• Patrol issued a uniform traffic ticket for speeding. The driver was going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.
• Police responded to a complaint of a loud party from the 8500 block of Porter Road. Upon arrival, patrol did not hear noise and found the resident in his pajamas that stated he was in bed. The area was cleared.
• Patrol responded to a business on the 1500 block of Military Road that reported a burglary. The shoplifter was already in custody for stealing over $45 in scented candles. The suspect reported her home smelled and she needed candles. The female was transported to the Niagara County Jail.

Friday, July 23

• Patrol responded to a two-car injury auto accident on Factory Outlet Boulevard. The driver of the first operated vehicle stated the brakes failed, causing her to hit the rear of the second vehicle. Both drivers complained of back and neck pain and were transported to Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center for evaluation.
• Patrol were called to a three-car accident on Military Road and Packard Road. The driver of the first vehicle stated the second driver hit her in the rear of her car. The third driver reported the second driver had been stopping very fast and slamming on the brakes, causing the accident. The second driver complained of back and neck pain and was taken to Mount St. Mary's.
• A disabled vehicle was found on the I-190 at the Power Authority. An elderly female was assisted in changing the tire.

Saturday July 24

• Patrol responded to a resident of Sunnydale Drive was reported a suspicious vehicle had been pulling into numerous driveways. The grey SUV had been last seen on Miller Road. Police stopped the suspicious vehicle and the driver stated to be delivering papers to the neighborhood.
• Patrol assisted agencies to stop a driver that fired at least one round from a 12-gauge shotgun while driving. The vehicle was stopped on Ontario Avenue at 10th Street where the driver was taken into custody.
• A resident of the 5100 block of Isherwood Drive reported $1,000 was stolen from underneath her bed during the week she was gone. Her boyfriend and son were interviewed and reported they did not know who took the money. All three parties agreed to a lie detector test. An investigation is pending.

Sunday, July 25

• Patrol responded to an alarm at a business on Military Road. The power was out to the building. The meter socket was found to be partially removed. The building was secured.
• A resident of Sunnydale Drive reported damage to his property. The complainant stated an unknown person in a vehicle struck and destroyed his painted and concrete mailbox. Small pieces of heavy glass were discovered from the vehicle.
• A resident of the 8500 block of Porter Road reported a burglary. The resident stated her apartment had been broken into and over $400 worth of items had been stolen. Patrol responded with negative results of suspects or witnesses.
• Patrol responded to a false alarm from a business on the 2700 block of Military Road. The building was secured.

An alarm at a residential home on the 6000 block of Grauer Road went off. The area appeared secure.

• Patrol spoke to a resident of the 3000 block of Pretoria Street. The matter concerned a local level three-sex offender living in the area.
