Town of Niagara Police Blotter for June 17

The following is a
sampling of the calls the Town of Niagara Police responded to between May 31
and June 6. During that week 143 incidents were investigated.
Monday, May 31
- A 19-year-old Bellreng
Drive woman was arrested for disorderly conduct after police investigating a
report of a screaming fight in the 3100 block repeatedly asked her to watch her
mouth and quiet down.
- Patrol issued two traffic
tickets to motorists for failure to stop at the flashing red light on the
corner of Effie Drive and Tuscarora Road.
- Patrol assisted the
Niagara Falls Police Department with a disturbing the peace complaint on Zito
Drive. Intoxicated persons were dispersed.
Tuesday, June 1
- A resident of Effie Drive
reported a neighbor notified him about graffiti on his fence a few days ago. He
was told a suspect already has been incarcerated on numerous similar felony
criminal mischief complaints.
- A Canadian woman reported
her purse snatched while she was at the mall in the 1900 block of Military
Road. Her son shouted for someone to stop the fleeing teenager, who was grabbed
by a man in front of another store and a scuffle ensued. The youth's hat and
shirt were ripped off as he continued to flee. Witnesses said he left the mall
and headed south toward Sabre Park. Video showed the suspect may have been
involved in another crime at a nearby department store.
- Patrol responded to
Wildwood Acres on a report of a man going door to door asking questions about a
resident. The man identified himself as a private detective.
Wednesday, June 2
- Patrol responded to a call
about a suspicious vehicle on Beckwith Avenue in Wildwood Acres. Suspect said
he was talking to a girlfriend and didn't want his live-in girlfriend to hear
his conversation.
- Niagara Falls Police
requested patrol go to a department store in the 1500 block of Military Road to
pick up photos and a video of the previous day's robbery. Suspect is the same
person believed to be taking purses out of vehicles in the store's parking lot.
- An employee at the mall in
the 1900 block of Military Road reported someone had stolen his 2004 Chevy
Blazer from the south employee parking lot. No broken glass was found in the
spot, but the employee said he did have a spare key hidden under the rear
bumper.
Thursday, June 3
- Patrol was called to the
2100 block of Military Road on a report of two children locked in a
vehicle. One of the children
unlocked the vehicle prior to patrol's arrival.
- Patrol provided backup on
an emergency medical service call for a man who had fallen from a roof on Effie
Drive.
Friday, June 4
- While performing a
property check at the town park on Lockport Road, patrol found a van parked in
the east lot and two people sitting at the pavilion. They were informed the
park closes at dusk.
- Patrol was called take
reports on two unattended deaths of elderly females, one on Anthony Drive and
one on Lincoln Street.
- Patrol responded to the entrance
of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station on Lockport Road. The driver was
arrested after he admitted he knew his license was revoked for refusing to take
a chemical test and for not answering tickets in the Town of Niagara.
- Patrol was called to Tuscarora
Road in Wildwood Acres where a man said he had his grandson call 911 after
hearing his 3-month-old granddaughter screaming and running downstairs and
finding her hanging by her upper body from a bounce seat in the living room.
The baby was checked and was not harmed. At the time of the incident, her
alleged father was outside talking with friends, and the mother, who was away
from home, claimed she had texted him and asked him to watch the baby, which he
denied. She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Saturday, June 5
- Patrol investigated a
report of a possible sinkhole in front of a business in the 3700 block of
Military Road and found an approximately one foot diameter hole in the pavement
near the curb.
- Patrol investigated a
two-car accident on Porter Road. Vehicle No. 1 was on its side when patrol
arrived. Rural Metro assisted the driver from the vehicle. He was charged with
moving from lane unsafely and no inspection. Driver No. 2 said she was
eastbound on Porter when vehicle No. 1 began to make a left turn in front of
her and she was unable to swerve in time. She sustained leg injuries and was
transported by Rural Metro to Mount St. Mary's Hospital.
- A Sycamore Drive resident
in Cayuga Village complained that a woman driving a black Pontiac Grand Prix
struck her mailbox and drove off. The plate number she obtained did not match
the vehicle's description.
Sunday, June 6
- Patrol responded to Licata
Drive where a resident complained that a youth from Anthony Drive threw rocks
at his home and broke a window. Boy's father agreed to pay resident the cost of
the window.
- A Cayuga Village resident
complained that after purchasing some musical equipment from a yard sale down
the street, he discovered it was missing parts. He went back and another person
tending the sale refunded his money. Then, he said, the original seller turned
up at his home insisting the sale was final.
- An Isherwood Drive
resident reported that while she was walking on Military Road, someone in a
blue Toyota sedan drove by her several times and stared at her, then pulled
into the old Military Road School lot, opened his door and motioned for her to
get in.
