Town of Niagara Police Blotter for June 3

The following is a
sampling of the calls the Town of Niagara Police responded to between May 17
and 23. During that week, 185 incidents were investigated.
Monday, May 17
- Residents from the
6500 block of Elsa Place and from the 7200 block of Colonial Drive Extension
reported that someone had hit their residences with a paintball gun.
Tuesday, May 18
- Patrol responded to
Cayuga Village for a juvenile problem. A girl said a boy she knows hit her on
the head while on the school bus.
- A resident of the
4700 block of Hermitage Drive reported that sometime overnight someone shot a
paintball at his residence, causing an orange stain above the door.
- Patrol responded to
the area of Miller and Lockport Roads for someone driving recklessly who had
stuck some kind of gun out a window. A vehicle was stopped on Miller Road,
north of Colonial Drive. Driver and passengers said they were just driving
around. No gun was found, but inside the car were BBs, some plastic bags of
marijuana, a digital scale and several pills in a bag.
Wednesday, May 19
- Patrol was stopped on
Military Road by a woman who said her son had texted her pictures of the Grand
Island Bridge and said he was going to kill himself due to a breakup with his
girlfriend. Other police agencies became involved in the search. Patrol
observed the son's car pulling into his mother's residence. The son agreed to
be taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for a mental health
evaluation.
- Patrol monitored the
town park at Nevada Avenue and Portland Street for possible juvenile problems.
Negative results.
Thursday, May 20
- An employee at a
Maryland Avenue junkyard reported that, between May 18 and 19, someone entered
the rear, fenced yard and took aluminum materials valued at $600. Also
overnight on May 20, someone threw a large piece of concrete through a window of a 1994 pickup
truck.
- A driver parked
outside a doughnut business on Military Road reported she accidentally stepped
on the gas pedal instead of the
brake, causing the vehicle to go over the curb and smash into the building. No reported injuries to driver,
passenger or store patrons.
- A resident of the
2900 block of Birch Avenue reported her husband had locked her out after an
argument. The husband wouldn't come to the door. The woman agreed to stay with
relatives for the night.
- A woman in the 8500
block of Porter Road reported her
ex-boyfriend was at her apartment door and refused to leave. The man said he
wanted to see his newborn child. Patrol advised him to take the matter to
Family Court.
Friday, May 21
- Patrol investigated a
report in the 8000 block of Packard Road. Resident reported that sometime
during the night someone cut the lock and hasp on her shed door, but nothing
appeared to have been taken.
- Patrol issued an
appearance ticket to a 61-year-old Lewiston woman who was accused of
shoplifting $267.25 worth of merchandise at a grocery store in the 1700 block
of Military Road.
- The manager of a
store in the 1600 block of Military Road reported that an internal investigation
found that an employee had stolen $1,972.72 by making false register returns
since the fall of 2009. The 28-year-old Niagara Falls woman was charged with
grand larceny.
- A resident of the
3100 block of Apple Court reported that someone had cut the hasp on his shed
door, but he did not believe anything had been taken.
- Patrol was dispatched
to the 3200 block of Hyde Park Boulevard where it was reported someone was
trying to break in. The parties involved turned out to be the homeowners who
had locked themselves out.
Saturday, May 22
- Patrol observed a
30-year-old Expressway Village man walking along Military Road who had large
bulges in his pockets. The bulges turned out to be four glasses which he had
taken from a restaurant. Glasses were returned. Management did not press
charges.
- Patrol checked
junkyards on Hyde Park Boulevard, Maryland Avenue and Delaware Avenue. All
appeared OK.
- Patrol checked a
report of shots fired in Sabre Park. Nothing found.
- Patrol checked a
church parking lot on Kline Road and found four teenagers ranging in age from
19 to 15. Marijuana was found and the oldest youth, a Woodland Avenue resident,
was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and endangering the welfare
of a child.
Sunday, May 23
- Patrol responded to
the 1900 block of Military Road, where an Ontario man and his passengers
reported that, while they were in the mall, someone punched in the driver's
side door lock, cut the wiring to the alarm system and took numerous items,
including luggage, a GPS unit, jewelry, clothing, cash, passports and a cell
phone.
- Patrol investigated a
burglary in the 8000 block of Crestview Drive, where the victim said someone
had entered her shed and taken a power washer valued at $750.
- A caller reported
that, through Facebook, one of her daughter's classmates said she had given
birth and buried the baby in the back yard. Patrol checked with the juvenile,
who denied the story. The juvenile's father said she had been having problems
with some other girls at school, who may have made the posting. He was advised
to contact Facebook and the school.
