To help area stroke patients live their highest quality of life, Mount St. Mary's Hospital is hosting a stroke support group. The next meeting of the group is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, in Room 249 of the main hospital at 5300 Military Road, Lewiston.

This month's topic is "Proper Nutrition to Maintain a Healthy Brain and Heart."

This program is for stroke survivors and their significant others. Registered Dietitian Michael Christ will provide information on how a healthy diet can lead to reducing one's risk for stroke and cardiovascular disease.

Attendance is free and open to recently diagnosed stroke patients, long-term stroke survivors and caregivers. In addition to the group discussion, the meeting offers information on community resources for stroke patients.

Free parking is available, and light refreshments will be served. For more information, or to register, call Catholic Health's HealthConnection at 716-447-6205 or visit chsbuffalo.org/events. Walk-ins are welcome.
