The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is now $2.14 per gallon, down 3 cents from last week. The New York State average is $2.37 per gallon, down 2 cents from last week. A year ago, the state average was $2.33.

AAA Western and Central New York reports the following averages:

  • Buffalo - $2.34, down 1 cent
  • Rochester - $2.33, down 2 cents
  • Rome - $2.33, down 2 cents
  • Syracuse - $2.27, down 3 cents

Gas prices are on the decline and that's welcome news for holiday travelers. More than 48 million Americans are expected to travel 50 miles or more this Thanksgiving. The 43.5 million travelers on the road will be the most since 2005 and more than 800,000 more than last year. Historically, gasoline demand tends to decline during the month of November and, with the autumn refinery maintenance season nearing completion, pump prices are expected to move lower to close out the year.

Motorists can find current gas prices along their route with the free AAA mobile app for iPhone, iPad and Android. The app can also be used to map a route, find discounts, book a hotel, and access AAA roadside assistance. Locate gas prices across the country at http://gasprices.aaa.com/.
