The 29th annual Amherst Invitational will take place this Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12-13, at the Northtown Center. The event is free for the public to attend. It runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday; while Sunday's events will begin at 9 a.m. and are scheduled to conclude around 1 p.m.

This year's competition showcases 165 figure skaters. Those attending the event will see competitors as young as 4 years of age, all the way up to the adult age group. Competitors will travel from all across New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Canada to skate in this sanctioned U.S. Figure Skating event.

The competition will feature various events, which include free skate programs, short programs, showcase, compulsory moves, and the highly anticipated spin events. This is a rare opportunity for fans of the sport to get an up-close-and-personal view of figure skaters who, one day, hope to be on the national stage representing their country at the Olympics.

The Amherst Skating Club is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting excellence in all aspects of figure skating. Since 1964, the Amherst Skating Club has provided Western New Yorkers comprehensive year-round programs in freestyle, dance, moves in the field, power skating, choreography, USFS tests, and off-ice conditioning.

The Amherst Skating Club is located in the Northtown Ice Center at 1615 Amherst Manor Drive, Williamsville. For more information about the Amherst Skating Club, visit www.amherstskatingclub.org.
