Dressing room renovations at Historic Palace Theatre

Lockport's Historic Palace Theatre has recently undergone major renovations to its dressing room space in order to provide a safe and professional space for performers to prepare prior to a production.

This project was funded by a $30,000 grant from the Yahoo Community Benefit Fund at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo.

"At the Historic Palace Theatre, we are dedicated to serving the community in all ways that we can, and with our dressing room renovations we now are able to provide a safe, and extremely professional area for all performers to perform," said Christopher Parada, executive director of the Historic Palace Theatre. "Thanks to the generous grant from the Yahoo Community Benefit Fund at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, we now can provide this space for local schools, community groups, as well as bring in new talent to our community."

One of the Historic Palace Theatre's missions is to provide visual art education and theatrical opportunities to the youth of this community. The renovated dressing space now provides a safer area for young performs to prepare for their performances on a professional stage. The overall experience helps them learn about all the benefits theater and the visual arts have to offer.

The Historic Palace Theatre is located in the heart of downtown Lockport. Built in 1925, by Charles Dickenson, the proscenium arch-style space is noted as a gem of the city. The theater is owned and operated by a nonprofit organization, Historic Palace Inc.
