Niagara Frontier Publications recently held a pumpkin-carving/decorating contest for Halloween. The first-place winners, Michael and Cindy Kline of Grand Island, carve numerous pumpkins every year and decided to put one in the NFP contest.

Michael said they carve pumpkins each year for the neighborhood kids to enjoy around Halloween. Many of their creative pumpkin designs include the pumpkins sticking out their "tongues," which are created by the natural-looking "tongue curve" from other pumpkins.

The other winners include Stacy Ellis of Sanborn (second place) and Kevin McMurray of Lewiston (third place).
