The Niagara River Greenway Commission announced Jeanne Leccese was named executive director of the regional organization.

The Greenway Commission oversees projects that preserve, enhance and develop the scenic, natural, historic, cultural and recreational resources of the Niagara River.

Leccese, who will be based at DeVeaux Woods State Park in Niagara Falls, will focus on connecting municipalities and regional not-for-profits to the Greenway Commission to develop projects that will further enhance the existing Niagara River Greenway.

Additionally, Leccese will focus on improving the communication and technology of the Greenway Commission.

Prior to joining the Greenway Commission, Leccese served as senior research associate at the University at Buffalo Food Systems Planning and Healthy Communities Lab, where she coordinated Growing Food Connections, a federally funded national multiyear project. Prior to that, she worked as the project coordinator for Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work and Play, an initiative of the Human Service Coalition of Tompkins County in Ithaca. In this position, she was responsible for coordinating the work of multiple public and private sector partners to execute strategies promoting healthy eating and active living in Ithaca and its surrounding county. Leccese also served as a senior planner for Tompkins County.
