Niagara Greenway projects, meetings announced

The Niagara River Greenway Commission will meet Tuesday, July 19, to determine the consistency of the 51st round of projects. The meeting will take place at 3 p.m. at the Niagara Power Vista, 5777 Lewiston Road (Route 104), Lewiston. The executive committee meeting will precede the general meeting at 2 p.m.

The projects under consideration are:

  • Buffalo River Keeper and Forest Lawn Heritage Foundation - Scajaquada Creek ecosystem restoration
  • Buffalo Audubon Society - Invasive species removal at Buckhorn State Park
  • New York State Parks - Niagara River Greenway kiosks
  • New York State Parks - Improved fishing access at Artpark and Fort Niagara
  • New York State Parks - Enhanced illumination of Niagara Falls
  • New York State Parks - Devils Hole stairs restoration

Public comment on these projects will be accepted through July 8. The projects are posted online at www.niagaragreenway.org. Comments may be submitted to [email protected] or by hard copy to the commission at P.O. Box 1132, Niagara Falls, NY 14303.

The Niagara River Greenway Commission is a public benefit corporation established by Chapter 460 of the laws of 2004. It is charged with the planning and development of a greenway of interconnected parks, river access points and waterfront trails along the Niagara River from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario at the site of the historic Fort Niagara.
