UB Center for the Arts concludes most successful season in its history

Achieves record number of sold-out events and awarded 'Best Large Music Venue'

The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo, announces its recently concluded 2015-16 season was the most successful in its 22-year history.

The center's season featured a diverse lineup of concerts, comedy, dance, speakers, international events, children's shows, UB student productions and more, highlighted by a record number of sellouts. Sold-out engagements included: "Weird Al" Yankovic, Bonnie Raitt, Lehrer Dance with 10,000 Maniacs, Chris Cornell, Colm Wilkinson, "MythBusters Live," Sebastian Maniscalco, WYRK Fall Acoustic Show, "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Live," Tedeschi Trucks Band; and Aquila Theatre's production of "Romeo & Juliet." In total, approximately 90,000 people attended performances at the center during the season.

Thomas Burrows, executive director of the Center for the Arts, comments "We have built an eclectic annual season of programs that is both an asset to the university and the community at large. Our events complement the many other cultural and entertainment offerings in Western New York and we could not be more pleased with the response we have received."

He added, "It is a testament to our talented and hard-working staff in all areas of our operation."

The center also was honored as a Buffalo Spree 2016 Best of WNY Winner for "Best Large Music Venue" for a second time.
