Old Fort Niagara holds 'Community Appreciation Night'

Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown will host a "Community Appreciation Night" season kickoff from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18. The event is free for area residents.

Guests will receive a "tour card" that orients them to information points throughout the fort.

Information points will introduce visitors to interpreters, onsite trades demonstrations such as barrel-making and blacksmithing, artillery, summer programming, Native history and education, membership, volunteering, and giving.

At a number of points, there will be a question and prize, geared toward children. The questions will focus on the American Revolution.

Visitors who complete the "tour card" will be entered to win a prize. Prizes include an annual family membership to the fort, a $20 gift certificate to the museum shop, a $10 gift certificate to the fort's Log Cabin Eatery, and family day passes to OFN.
