Niagara River Greenway projects, meetings announced

The Niagara River Greenway Commission will meet Tuesday, May 17, to determine the consistency of the 50th round of projects. The meeting will take place at 3 p.m. at the Tifft Nature Preserve, 1200 Fuhrmann Blvd, Buffalo. The executive committee meeting will precede the general meeting at 2 p.m.

The projects under consideration are:

  • Friends of the Buffalo Story - Riverside heritage project
  • SUNY Buffalo State Research Foundation - Recovering ecosystem function in the upper Niagara River
  • Western New York Land Conservancy - Niagara Gorge rim restoration and enhancement project
  • Town of Niagara -Veterans memorial at Veterans Memorial Park

Public comment on these projects will be accepted through May 6. The projects are posted online at www.niagaragreenway.org. Comments may be submitted to [email protected] or by hard copy to the Greenway Commission at P.O. Box 1132, Niagara Falls, NY 14303.

The Niagara River Greenway Commission is a public benefit corporation established by Chapter 460 of the laws of 2004. It is charged with the planning and development of a greenway of interconnected parks, river access points and waterfront trails along the Niagara River from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario at the site of the historic Fort Niagara.
