Coyer, Feeney, Rieger, Rumschik named to Niagara University board of trustees

Christopher R. Coyer, Class of 1993, Christopher J. Feeney, John A. Rieger, '86, and John P. Rumschik, '77, have been named to the board of trustees of Niagara University. The Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., president of the university, announced their elections.

Coyer is a financial services professional while Feeney serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer for Delaware North. Meanwhile, Rieger is national managing partner of the financial services tax practice at Deloitte, and Rumschik is president and chief operating officer of M&T Insurance Agency.

Christopher R. Coyer

Coyer earned a B.S. from Niagara University's College of Business Administration in 1993. After graduation, he relocated to Las Vegas. Coyer has been in the financial services industry for 20 years, including 18 in the corporate sector as a vice president of wholesale distribution. He recently opened his own private practice as a financial adviser with Transamerica Financial Advisors.

An Oswego native, Coyer has been a member of the Niagara University Alumni Association board since 2010. He and his wife of 17 years, Yun, have two children.

Christopher J. Feeney

Feeney joined Delaware North, a worldwide leader in hospitality and food service, in 2009. He leads the company's global financial strategy, including relationships with financial institutions. Feeney also oversees Delaware North's tax, internal audit, accounting, treasury, flight and facilities management departments.

Prior to joining Delaware North, Feeney was senior vice president and treasurer for Wyndham Worldwide. He previously held senior finance and management positions at Sunrise Senior Living, Marriott International and Ernst & Young LLP.

Feeney received an undergraduate degree from Washington & Jefferson College, an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh's Katz School of Business and a law degree from the University of Virginia.

John A. Rieger

Rieger possesses 24 years of experience providing services to global financial services companies. His experience includes due diligence and structuring advice relating to mergers and acquisitions; assistance with transfer pricing and cost allocation studies; federal, state and local tax planning; income tax accounting matters; and assistance with federal, state and local tax audits, and tax controversy.

During his career, Rieger has held several prominent banking and finance positions, including a four-year tenure as the chief financial officer at Fortis International Bank. In 2003, the International Tax Review named him one of the "top-five" tax professionals in the United States. Niagara University's College of Business Administration recognized Rieger in 2014 as its Distinguished Accounting Alumnus of the Year.

Rieger earned his BBA in accounting from Niagara University as well as an MBA and JD from Case Western Reserve University.

John P. Rumschik

Rumschik assumed his current position as president and chief operating officer of M&T Insurance Agency Inc. in the mid-2000s. Prior to working at M&T, he was vice president of Matthews, Bartlett and Dedecker Inc., a Buffalo-based insurance firm, and regional vice president of the Fireman's Fund Insurance Co.

Rumschik has remained highly involved with his alma mater since graduating with a degree in management and finance in 1977. He served on NU's board of advisers from 2000-06 before commencing his first eight-year term (2006-14) as a trustee. Rumschik has been the volunteer chairman of Niagara's annual giving campaign and co-chaired the university's President's Dinner in 2014 with his wife, Barbara. NU presented him with an honorary doctorate in 2013.

In the community, Rumschik has served on boards for the Diocese of Buffalo, the Niagara Frontier Council and the Sisters of St. Francis. He has also been very active with the annual Catholic Charities Appeal and the Boy Scouts of America.
