Research confirms student motivation is a key factor in successful reading. Book clubs can be an excellent venue for building excitement and friendship over good books.

To that end, the Family Literacy Center at Niagara University is presenting an enrichment book club for children in grades 2-8. It begins March 17.

Sessions will take place at Niagara University (Academic Complex, Room 125) from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on March 17 and 31, and April 7, 14 and 28.

There is no cost to register.

Dr. Kathleen McGrath, director of the Family Literacy Center, and graduate students in NU's advanced literacy specialist program, will coordinate the curriculum.

"The small group setting will invite children into active learning and provide them with opportunities to speak, interact and exchange points of view," McGrath said.

For registration information, contact McGrath at 716-286-8309 or Jill Maier at 716-286-8306, or email [email protected].
