The Buffalo Sabres announced the team will host an SPCA Adopt-a-Pet event from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8. The event, which will take place at the SPCA Serving Erie County in Tonawanda, will feature appearances by Sabres players.

The first 50 people who adopt a pet on Monday, Feb. 8, will receive a pair of tickets to the Feb. 14 Sabres game against the Colorado Avalanche.

"We've known for a long time that people can find the love of their lives at the SPCA," said Gina Browning, SPCA Serving Erie County director of public relations. "Sometimes our animals just need a little help finding that perfect match, and we couldn't have asked for better matchmakers than the Buffalo Sabres! The organization is scoring big for SPCA animals this Valentine's Day with the goal of finding them forever love."

The SPCA Serving Erie County is located at 205 Ensminger Road, Tonawanda. For more information on the event, visit https://www.yourspca.org/pucker-up-buffalo-sabres-adoption-event.

The SPCA Serving Erie County was formed in 1867 and is the second-oldest humane society in the country. Its knowledgeable, caring and open-minded team of staff and volunteers achieves that mission through proactive efforts to address the current status of animals in the community, education of adults and children, rescue and sheltering of animals in need, and placement of animals into appropriate homes.

The SPCA does not receive any funding from the county, city, state or federal governments; it is a humane society only able to assist the people and pets in need through generous donations.
