The Youngstown Business and Professional Association held its quarterly membership meeting Tuesday at Ray's Tavern on Lake Road in Porter.

YPBA President Cheryl Butera reviewed a number of business association successes for 2015 for the 40 members attending. Included was the announcement of 15 new members having joined YPBA in 2015 for a new record total of 71; new by-laws for 2016; and the utilization of grant funding to acquire a new seating bench overlooking the garden area of the Village Community Center in honor of late Mayor Neil Riordan; as well as funding for additional LED snowflake lights in Falkner Park.

Also noted were the reopening of two long-time popular Youngstown businesses - the Mug and Musket and The Ontario House (Stone Jug) - that were welcomed by YPBA in December with ribbon cuttings.

For 2016, Butera discussed projects to utilize the William G. Mayne/Niagara Falls Bridge Commission/Niagara County Economic Development Business Community Enhancement grant program. Mentioned was funding for revised YPBA 2016 welcome brochures, and upgrades for the village, including new hanging flower baskets and planter flowers, the upgrading of a signpost at Main and Lockport streets, webcam upgrades on the Youngstown docks and the painting of village fire hydrants.

Also discussed were plans for the fifth annual O'Riordan St. Patrick's Day Parade in the village (Saturday, March 19); and the annual Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala at the Niagara Falls Conference & Event Center (Friday, April 29).
