Zemsky congratulates New York's 2016 Golden Globe Award winners

Statement from Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Howard Zemsky on the 2016 Golden Globe Awards:

"(Sunday night), many of film and television's best directors, actors and producers, from around the world, received the great honor of being chosen for a Golden Globe Award. Many of these awards went to productions that participated in the state's film program and it's my pleasure to celebrate New York's winners.

"Movies and TV shows provide us with a great escape and they also boost local and state economies. Together, the award-winning productions spent a projected $147.2 million and employed more than 9,100 individuals in New York state. The Film Production and Post-Production Tax Credit Programs have been hugely successful, bringing more than 1,000 projects to New York state since 2011, which have generated thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity, further cementing New York's reputation as a premier location to film productions of any kind.

"The success of these films, along with the extraordinary growth of post-production in New York since 2012, proves that our commitment to this fast-growing segment of the film industry has paid off."
