The Grand Island Knights of Columbus Mary Star of the Sea Council No. 4752 supported the Grand Island Neighbors Foundation holiday drive with a donation Thursday.

The Knights from the Mary Star of the Sea Council annually open their hall at 1841 Whitehaven Road for the Neighbors Foundation's holiday food drive. In addition this year, the Knights presented a check for $500 as well. The presentation took place at the Knights' hall Thursday as volunteers went about sorting the foundation's 61 pallets of collected food for Island families in temporary need.

"Our meat raffle was very successful back in October, and it enables us to do a number of things like this," said Knight Bill Gworek Sr. of the donation. He noted another meat raffle to fund the Knights' charitable activities is planned for the spring.
