The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team will once again partner with Tops Friendly Markets and Entercom Buffalo for a Thanksgiving turkey drive Tuesday, Nov. 24, to benefit local food pantries. The turkey drive will take place from 6-9 a.m. in the following locations:

  • First Niagara Center surface lot (enter lot from Baltimore Street via Perry Street)
  • Tops Market in Tonawanda (890 Young St.)
  • Tops Market in West Seneca (355 Orchard Park Road)

For every 20-pound turkey dropped off, or multiple turkeys totaling 20 pounds, the Sabres will give away two tickets to an upcoming game to the donor while supplies last. Tickets (maximum of four per person) will be distributed immediately at the drop-off sites for games against New Jersey on Dec. 15, Florida on Jan. 5, Florida on Feb. 9 and Calgary on March 3.

All of the donated turkeys will directly benefit the Buffalo City Mission and the Food Bank of Western New York.

The Buffalo City Mission, founded in 1917, provides preventative, emergency and long-term recovery services to thousands of people who are homeless or impoverished. The agency includes a women's and children's shelter (Cornerstone Manor), the Men's Community Center and the Dick Road thrift store in Depew. To schedule a tour, or to learn how to become a volunteer, visit www.buffalocitymission.org or call 716-854-8181.

The Food Bank of WNY is the primary hunger relief organization in the region, obtaining and distributing food to 326 member agencies, including food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, after-school programs and senior citizen centers in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties. Through these agencies, every month the Food Bank of WNY serves 116,691 individuals, including 41,348 families, nearly 44,000 children and infants, and 13,194 senior citizens.
