Absentee ballots have been counted, revealing the second of the two new councilmen for the Town of Niagara: Richard Sirianni.

Last week, without absentee ballots in, it was simply to close to call who was going to take the second council seat.

Democrat Samuel S. Gatto was assured a seat as councilman after the general election. He brought in a total of 673 votes after adding in the absentee ballots, while Sirianni came close by beating Robert McDermott by 29 votes.

"I'm really excited about it," Sirianni said. "I want to thank the entire community for coming out and supporting me and getting out to vote. I kind of feel that they have the confidence in me to work with this Town Board in moving forward. I think under Lee Wallace, the Town Board has been already moving in a good direction. I really do."
