German food and music at Wrights Corners Fire Hall in Lockport
Get your tickets now for an evening of traditional German food and music at the History Center's Oktoberfest, Saturday, Oct. 10. The place to be is Wrights Corners Fire Hall, 4043 Lake Ave., Lockport, for dinner, music and dancing from 6-10 p.m.
A German dinner catered by Donna Eick will offer a buffet of German food with all the old-fashioned Oktoberfest favorites, including traditional bratwurst, roast pork, sauerkraut, sweet and sour cabbage, German potato salad, chef salad and dessert. German beer from Woodcock Brothers, wine and soft drinks will also be available for purchase from a cash bar.
The Frankfurters, an authentic Bavarian-Swiss band, will entertain with Oktoberfest music and instruments. Drawing on centuries of Bavarian culture, the Frankfurters play hand-carved wooden Swiss alphorns, a singing-saw and Alpine bells. Guests will hear plenty of yodeling, too, as the Frankfurters give us a real taste of authentic Oktoberfest entertainment.
Special prize drawings are a big part of the evening's fun. Take a chance to win some unique gift items in the basket raffle, with many opportunities to take special prizes. Organizers also will draw for the winner of a handmade Amish quilt in the "courthouse steps" pattern. Quilt drawing tickets are available now at the History Center for $1 per ticket or $5 for a book of six.
Tickets for the Oktoberfest benefit evening, including German music and dinner, are $35. Make your reservations by calling the History Center at 716-434-7433. The event supports programs at the Niagara History Center.
