The Lewiston Community Lions Club has kicked off its new membership year and speaker series. Principal Elizabeth Corieri of the Tuscarora Indian School spoke, along with two students Nina Hambly and Olivia Rickard. Nina and Olivia each spoke about how their traditional school experience is combined with the Tuscarora teachings and heritage.

"It was a pleasure to hear how much they enjoy their schooling, and appreciate their heritage," Lions Club President Regina Cecconi said. "Through her speaking and enthusiasm, it was easy to see how dedicated Principal Corieri is to her students."

In keeping with Lions Clubs International theme for September, the Lewiston Community Lions donated 20 backpacks filled with supplies such as paper, notebooks, folders and pencils, as well as a basket of classroom items.

Empty nest? Finding yourself with some extra time? The Lewiston Lions would like to invite you to its next dinner meeting at 6 p.m. on Oct. 6 at The Brickyard Pub & B.B.Q. on Center Street in Lewiston. For more information, visit www.lewistoncommunitylionsclub-ny.org.
