RealtyUSA partners with Pajama Program

Collection runs through Sept. 30

Personnel at the Grand Island offices of RealtyUSA are working to gather items for the Pajama Program, Buffalo chapter, which provides new pajamas and books to children in need, many of whom are waiting to be adopted.

These children live in group homes, shelters and temporary housing facilities and are shuffled often from one place to another. Many of them have been abandoned, abused or neglected. Some of the children are living with their families below the poverty level and are in desperate need of food, clothing and shelter.

The Buffalo chapter of the Pajama Program was started in 2007. Since its inception, it has collected and distributed more than 7,177 pairs of new pajamas and over 10,000 new books locally. All of the new pajamas and books are distributed to local agencies in the Buffalo area, including Cornerstone Manor, Baker Victory Services, Child and Family Services and the Salvation Army. During August and September, the RealtyUSA office will accept donations of new, unused pajamas (sizes newborn to age 17) and books.

The public is encouraged to drop off new pajamas and books at the Grand Island office at 2139 Grand Island Blvd. All collected items will be delivered to the Amherst Senior Center, where they will be picked up by the Pajama Program, Buffalo chapter.
