Niagara Regional Theatre Guild announces 93rd season lineup

The Niagara Regional Theatre Guild has announced its 93rd season of community theater on the Niagara Frontier will feature five shows.

This 2015-16 season kicks off with Irving Berlin's "Annie Get Your Gun." The show will be directed by Fran Newton and choreographed by Dawn Marcolini Newton, both of Grand Island, with musical direction by James Welch.

Irving Berlin's classic story is about sharpshooter Annie Oakley and her rocky relationship with fellow sharpshooter Frank Butler. They are in love, but also both want to hold the record as the best sharpshooter in the West. The show boasts classic songs like "Can't Get a Man with a Gun," "Sun in the Morning," and "Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better."

"Annie Get Your Gun" opens Friday, Sept. 18, and runs through Oct. 4.

The second show is "Camelot," a musical directed by Dawn Marcolini Newton with musical direction by Sandy Ackerman. The show is Lerner and Lowe's classic musical about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. It opens Friday, Nov. 6, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 22.

The third show, "The Miracle Worker," is a drama directed by Les Bailey and tells the story of the blind and deaf Helen Keller, and the struggles of her teacher Annie Sullivan, who is herself partially blind. "The Miracle Worker" opens Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, and runs through Feb. 14.

The fourth show is "When We Are Married," a comedy directed by Joe Fratello. Three well-to-do Victorian couples were all married on the same day, by the same priest, and all celebrate their anniversaries together. They are in for a surprise on their silver anniversary, when they learn that the priest who married them was not licensed to do so.

"When We Are Married" opens Friday, March 4, and runs through Sunday, March 20.

The last show is "Young Frankenstein," directed by Kim Ehrenburg with musical direction by Lynda Williams. This is the musical of Mel Brooks' classic movie of the same name. Fredrick Frankenstein, grandson of notorious monster creator Victor Frankenstein, must go settle his grandfather's estate. At first, he wants nothing to do with his grandfather's work, but the lure of Transylvania can prove to be too powerful. The show opens Friday, May 6, and runs through Sunday, May 22.

Season tickets are available through the last performance of "Annie Get Your Gun."
