More traffic changes for Route 31

Access to Shenk Road from Route 31 near Niagara County Community College in Sanborn will be closed to traffic for several weeks.

The New York State Department of Transportation announced that a traffic pattern change as part of the project to replace box culverts on Route 31. Motorists will be directed to use an alternate route. The closure is expected to last for three weeks.

From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., traffic between Townline and Baer roads on Route 31 will continue to alternate the use of one lane controlled by temporary signals. Motorists should expect delays and allow for extra travel time or seek alternate routes.

The DOT also reminds motorists that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual's driver's license.
