The Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas will host its 18th annual Charity Clambake from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at The Shores Waterfront Restaurant.
This annual event has become a summertime favorite drawing nearly 500 attendees from local communities and businesses. The evening features an "island" flare with live music by Party Squad as well as a DJ sound system compliments of Ultimate Event.
"This is such fun event, as it draws people from so many different venues, including businesses, organizations, community partners and your next-door neighbors," said Angela Johnson-Renda, chamber executive director. "Combine good food and drink with great company, fun activities, amazing prizes and warm breezes off the Niagara River, and you have the makings of a memorable event."
For the single price of $45, those who attend can enjoy clams on the half shell, steamed clams, clam chowder, non-seafood appetizers, drinks, a full buffet dinner, a live auction, a silent auction, a basket raffle and a 50/50 split. A portion of this year's proceeds will benefit DeGraff Memorial Hospital's patient services.
Event sponsors include Kaleida Health Foundation, Great Lakes Medical Imaging, Sodexo, Cornerstone CFCU, Twin City Ambulance, Newbird and RAC Engineering. Tickets can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce (716-692-5120) or DeGraff Memorial Hospital (716-690-2005).
