Quinn seeks bid for North Tonawanda clerk/treasurer

Incumbent seeks full term; promises 'streamlined, efficient service delivery'

North Tonawanda Clerk/Treasurer Daniel R. Quinn announced Tuesday he will seek a full term for the office in this year's upcoming election, vowing a renewed emphasis on streamlining delivery of services to city residents as the centerpiece of his bid for office.

The Common Council appointed Quinn to his current position in February, when former Clerk/Treasurer Scott P. Kiedrowski departed to serve on the staff of newly elected State Sen. Robert G. Ortt.

 "During my time in office, we've been able to institute several initiatives to help deliver services to the people of the community in the most efficient manner possible," Quinn said. "We need to continue that effort."

Quinn noted that his short tenure has already seen several successes. The incumbent pointed to several technology upgrades that have allowed his office to streamline services while reaching more city residents.

"Working with the New York State Division of Motor Vehicles, we were able to set up the PREED (Parking Regulation Electronic Enforcement and Disposition system) program in North Tonawanda, which provides the city an opportunity to recoup unpaid parking ticket fees by tying vehicle registration to the unpaid tickets," Quinn said. "This is good for our city and its taxpayers, and it ensures that our traffic laws are being enforced."

Quinn has led efforts to improve technology in both the treasurer's and clerk's offices by upgrading records management utilizing modern technology. The incumbent also noted with pride that, on his watch, a Facebook page for the office has been established where he keeps the public updated on relevant issues and engages clerk/treasurer's office customers.

"We are continuously looking for new and innovative ways to improve customer service at all levels," Quinn said. "I am constantly evaluating the services we provide and seeking new ways to help citizens interact with the city."

Most recently, Quinn oversaw Saturday's North Tonawanda tax foreclosure auction at Sikora Post, which generated new revenue for the city.

"We had a very successful tax auction this year, resulting in payment of all back taxes," Quinn said. "We received a total of $309,575 at the auction, and pending Common Council approval, the city's back taxes will be paid in full."

Quinn, a father of four, added that helping the next generation of North Tonawandans succeed is an important personal mission to him in his new role. In that spirit, he is sponsoring a 4th of July Writing Contest, which is open to all North Tonawanda children between the grades of kindergarten through sixth grade.

"North Tonawanda's future rests on good, effective policy decisions being made at City Hall, but it also requires us, as leaders, to pay close attention to the values we instill in the next generation of citizens," Quinn said.

Quinn and his wife, Jackie, are parents to four young boys. He is an active member of Tonawanda Church of Christ and is also a committee member for Young Life, a youth ministry in North Tonawanda.
