Trane running for Lewiston highway superintendent post

Dave Trane has announced he is the Democratic candidate for Town of Lewiston Highway Department superintendent. Trane is a retired Niagara Falls firefighter. He also worked 10 years for the New York State Department of Transportation.

"I've worked in public service my entire adult life," Trane said. "I want to give to Lewiston - the town where I've lived for more than 25 years."

Trane is married to the former Lori Eracitano, a Sanborn native.

Trane said he wants to bring better communication to the Highway Department and provide citizens with a better flow of information.

"I've heard many people complain that they are often unsure when services like leaf pickups will take place," Trane said.

During his decade with the Department of Transportation, Trane worked as a laborer, truck driver and equipment operator.

"I have hands-on experience with the nature of the work and the importance of good scheduling to assure maximum productivity," he said.

Trane worked 25 years with the Niagara Falls Fire Department and served as both vice president and president of Local 714, the Niagara Falls Firefighters Association. He served as a volunteer for current Lewiston Supervisor Dennis Brochey's transition team, advising on labor relations issues.

Trane has New York state code enforcement officers certificates for general construction principles. He also has taken numerous courses at Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations focusing on public employee law.

"I believe it is important to keep workers involved in sharing ideas and suggestions to make the Highway Department function more efficiently and effectively," Trane said.

The candidate said he wants to listen to people to make services better.

"The Highway Department's work touches most of our lives every day," Trane said. "I want to work for the safety of all the people of our town and provide them with the best services we can."
