The WNY Ovarian Cancer Project will be the beneficiary of a "Charmed by Charity" soiree at ALEX AND ANI. The public is invited to the store to sip refreshments, snack on small bites and shop with others who share a passion for giving back to the community.

The event takes place from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 15, at 5429 Main St., Williamsville. That evening, 15 percent of the store proceeds will be donated to support the WNY Ovarian Cancer Project.

Those interested should RSVP to [email protected].

The WNY Ovarian Cancer Project is the only private nonprofit in the 12 counties of Western New York that provides supportive services for women with ovarian cancer. The group, founded in 2012, also provides community education on the symptoms and risk factors of ovarian cancer.

This year, 24,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the U.S., and more than 14,000 will die. Ovarian cancer is the most deadly gynecologic cancer, and most women are unaware of their personal risk or the symptoms of the disease.

All of the services of the WNY Ovarian Cancer Project are free of charge, and include two professionally facilitated support groups, the signature "Comfort & Hope Tote" program, and community education programs.
