Daniel J. DiPofi, former executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Buffalo Sabres, has been elected to a three-year term on the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center board of directors.

A Niagara Falls native, DiPofi is a graduate of Niagara Catholic High School and Niagara University. Prior to joining the Sabres as corporate controller, he worked as a public accountant with Price Waterhouse.

While with the Sabres, DiPofi guided the organization through drastic changes in the NHL's economic structure and played a vital role in the franchise's economic stability as the team and region tackled the construction and funding of what is now called First Niagara Center.

A former member of the NHL board of governors, DiPofi also served as vice president of business operations and finance for the Rochester Sports Group, handling the Rochester Americans and Blue Cross Arena.

DiPofi was named 2008 Alumnus of the Year by Niagara Catholic High School and serves on the school's board of trustees. He and his wife, Janet, reside in Youngstown with their three daughters.
