Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue will hold an ice cream social at its May 13 volunteer meeting. The event also will include a visit by one of HON's adoptable dogs. The meeting runs from 6:30-8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 505 Cayuga St., Lewiston.

Volunteer meetings are open to the public and new volunteers are always welcome.

Adoption updates and plans for upcoming events, including participation in the 10 Mile Garage Sale, will be discussed. Donations of new, gently used, antique and vintage items, household items, toys, baby items, collections, appliances, electronics, garden, glass, dinnerware and any other items (no large furniture or clothing, please) will be gratefully accepted at the meeting.

For the garage sale, HON will be set up from Friday, June 12, through Sunday, June 14, at 445 East Lane (between Oxbow and Mohawk), in the Village of Lewiston. The location provides ample parking and easy in and out access. The public will be able to meet some adoptable dogs throughout the weekend.

Heart of Niagara is a not-for-profit companion animal rescue organization based in Niagara County. Its mission is to protect the health and welfare of abandoned, unwanted and homeless animals. Volunteers operate solely on donations and the generosity and support of the public.
