Debut event designed to match volunteers with local organizations, encourage community engagement
Congressman Brian Higgins and Niagara University's ReNU Niagara program invite Niagara Falls residents and those interested in making a difference in Niagara Falls to the 2015 LiveNF volunteer fair, an event to connect local residents interested in civic engagement with volunteer-driven organizations.
The first LiveNF volunteer fair will take place from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, 28 Old Falls St. The event is free and open to the public.
April is National Volunteer Month.
More than 30 organizations will be on hand with information tables to share what they do and how one can get involved. Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to: working with young people or senior citizens; neighborhood beautification; marketing, event planning, fundraising, scheduling and grant writing; construction and building rehab; working as greeters and ushers; serving in food pantries, hospitals and offices; as well as various opportunities to support tourism efforts. Potential volunteers can fill out a brief questionnaire and be matched with organizations that fit interest areas and availability.
