Paige Printup, a Niagara University senior studying criminology and criminal justice, was chosen as the recipient of the 2015 Native American Scholarship from the Buffalo Bandits.

Printup, of Niagara Falls, was notified of the $1,000 award during the March 21 National Lacrosse League game between the Bandits and the Minnesota Swarm at First Niagara Center in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Bandits Native American Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 to financially assist a Native American student in the pursuit of higher education. It is presented annually to a student of Native American descent who is enrolled at an accredited college or university and living in Western New York or Southern Ontario.

A selection committee comprised of members of the Buffalo Bandits organization chooses the scholarship winner.

Outside the classroom, Printup is vice president of Niagara University's women's club lacrosse team and active in NU's prelaw club. She also founded the Niagara County Ladies Lacrosse League, which is comprised of 50 players between the ages of 17 and 50.
