Republican Assemblyman John Ceretto today sent a letter to Gov. Andrew Cuomo in support of Niagara University as the school applies for designation as a partner in the Start-Up NY program. This would designate 9,409 square feet in DePaul Hall and 15,000 square feet of development-ready land on the southeastern quadrant of campus as tax-free zones for businesses that relocate from another state.

Eligible businesses would have to align with the academic goals of Niagara University and provide an economic benefit to the region.

As an alumnus of Niagara University who knows the positive impact the school has on the community, Ceretto has pledged his support for the university's application and offered his help with the process.

"Bringing the benefits of Start-Up NY's tax-free zones to Niagara University would be great news for the school and the community," Ceretto said. "It would create jobs for hardworking Western New Yorkers and improve our local economy. I voted for Start-Up NY because of the benefits it can bring Niagara Falls and Western New York. Niagara University has my full support for this application and I look forward to seeing new businesses flourish as a result of this program."
