Bob Koshinski, vice president and general manager of WBBZ-TV, has announced the first airings of the "Giants of Buffalo: Journalism" special, featuring Buffalo News reporters Dan Herbeck and Lou Michel, will take place at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The co-authors of the Timothy McVeigh-inspired New York Times bestseller "American Terrorist," were recognized for their work in the field of journalism at a special April event at the Buffalo History Museum, hosted by Buffalo News political reporter Robert McCarthy and John Di Sciullo of WBBZ.

They have been reporters at The Buffalo News for decades. Michel is the recipient of several Associated Press awards for his reporting and investigations. Herbeck has won national and statewide awards for his stories on fraud, government corruption, and the New York state prison system.

During the "Giants of Buffalo: Journalism" event, Herbeck and Michel talk about their time covering the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, their tenure with the newspaper, and what their families have meant to them.

The "Giants of Buffalo" event was sponsored by M&T Bank as part of its "Third Friday" series. The "Giants" series honors history-making individuals who have made extraordinary contributions in their industry.

WBBZ is seen throughout Western New York. For more information, visit www.wbbz.tv.
