Company volunteers host toy and book give-away for families at the New Hope Education Center

Volunteers from First Niagara hosted a toy and book give-away and holiday party for 85 children at the Harvest House New Hope Education Center Thursday. The event included a special visit from Santa.

"We are proud to do our part to make our community a better place. This event is a wonderful opportunity to provide for those less fortunate and support our neighbors during the holidays," said Cindy Bauer, First Niagara information technology director and organizer of the toy give-away.

"We are so appreciative of First Niagara's support of the families at Harvest House," said Carol Murphy, director of the New Hope Education center at Harvest House. "The children participating are so excited to have this experience and embrace the true meaning of the holiday season."

First Niagara also supports the Harvest House mission through grant funding for programs and services. A program of Harvest House, the New Hope Education Center, partners with a variety of education providers to serve adult students, offering quality educational programs to those who are either not working or working at low-income jobs. Students receive the advanced training needed to make a living wage.

The First Niagara Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable entity. Founded in 1998, the foundation is committed to supporting organizations in the communities in which members live and work, with specific focus on youth and education, community development and neighborhood revitalization. In 2013, First Niagara contributed more than $9 million in charitable grants to community partners across the bank's four-state footprint.
