Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-C-I-Lewiston, announced Niagara County received its share of Seneca Niagara Gaming facility revenues.

Due to a provision in the Upstate New York Gaming Economic Development Act, non-host counties in the Western New York exclusivity zone will now receive 10 percent of the net electronic gaming revenue from the Seneca casinos. Ceretto voted in favor of this provision in this year's budget to help provide Niagara County with additional revenue to devote to tax relief and economic development.

"After years of being left out, Niagara County is finally getting the casino revenues it deserves," he said. "This is good news for residents, as this money will help lower taxes and create good paying jobs through economic development.

"This is another sign of the progress being made in Western New York. For a long time, we were a forgotten region of the state in Albany, but now leaders at the Capitol are taking Western New York seriously. From the 'Buffalo Billion' to new casino money, Western New York finally has the resources it needs to make a comeback."

With more to come, Niagara County has already received almost $500,000 from this agreement. In addition to this, the Upstate New York Gaming Economic Development Act gives additional money to Niagara County through increased state school aid from casino revenues.
