During the spring 2015 semester, students at Niagara County Community College will have an opportunity to take as many as 13 credits of courses examining World War II. The courses are part of a broader campus-wide effort to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the war. A full program of activities and events will be announced during the spring semester.

"We thought it would be a great way to give our students the opportunity to contemplate the central event of the past century," said professor of history Don Fisher. "Over 16 million men and women served in the armed forces, roughly one in 12 Americans at the time. Practically everyone knows someone in their family who was in the military or worked in war industry."

And now there is an opportunity to get to know their era.

"As a community college, we recognize that these courses will appeal to non-traditional students who might want to enroll in just one course," Fisher said. "Someone with a father or grandfather who fought in the war might have a lot of unanswered questions. Taking one of these courses could help them make sense of their relatives' wartime service."

For information about the courses, contact NCCC admissions at 716-614-6200 or [email protected].
