Girl Scouts of Western New York to host two information sessions in Niagara Falls this December

Parents and girls can learn more about Girl Scouts and how to join

It's never too late for girls in grades K through 12 to join Girl Scouts, but why wait any longer to start the fun? Girl Scouts of Western New York is hosting two information sessions in December in Niagara Falls for parents and girls to learn about Girl Scouts and register on the spot. The information sessions will be held:

•6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Frontier Volunteer Fire Co. - Firehall 2, 2179 River Road

•11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Early W. Brydges Library, 1425 Main St.

Wondering what a Girl Scout does? The answer is whatever she chooses! Scouting is all about the girls and their interests. They might take a trip to places near or far, learn about science or engineering through building a model rollercoaster, gain financial literacy skills through the Girl Scout cookie program, or decide to go camping with best friends to learn about nature.

The opportunities are endless, but three things are certain: The girls decide, the girls have fun, and the girls build leadership skills that will stay with them throughout their lives. In fact, in a pulse poll conducted by Girl Scouts of the USA, 89 percent of parents and guardians said their daughter is happier because of Girl Scouts.

Volunteers also greatly benefit from being a part of Girl Scouts, as the Girl Scouts of the USA poll found 88 percent of Girl Scout volunteers say their volunteer experience with Girl Scouts makes their life better.

Anyone can become a Girl Scout volunteer; all that is needed is a willingness to help and guide girls and young women in your community. Girl Scout volunteers especially needed in Niagara County.
