The Village of Lewiston Board of Trustees has chosen South Fourth Street resident Edward Walker to serve as deputy treasurer. He replaces Amy Salada, who was appointed clerk/treasurer last month, and Karen Goodman, who retired in June after serving for 31 years.
"I was born and raised in Lewiston, and I'm very much a people-kind of person," Walker said Friday. "I think it's important to serve the people in the village."
He beat out 13 other people. Salada said it was a tough decision, as all applicants were talented.
Walker has a business background with accounting experience.
"I have served in a number of different areas where budget control and that kind of thing was part of what I had to do on a routine basis," he said.
Walker will start Dec. 1.
