On Saturday, from noon until 5 p.m., join Educate A Bull and members of the community as they celebrate the 8th annual "Barksgiving" at Chestnut Ridge Park.

"Barksgiving" is a dog-friendly festival and fundraiser started to celebrate four-legged canine friends. Come watch demonstrations of agility and herding, talk to local experts in veterinary medicine, nutrition and care, enter your dog in a costume contest, and get a head start on holiday shopping with local vendors. Enjoy lunch from R&R BBQ Food Truck and The House Of Munch. Coffee is sponsored by McCullough Coffee.

Funds raised go directly to help dogs in need. Educate a Bull is a not-for-profit bully breed rescue group that works to educate the public about the breed and encourage people to be responsible dog owners. Members rescue, rehabilitate and re-home dogs in need. The organization works with shelters and humane societies in New York, as well as the south, to identify and pull dogs that may not survive the shelter environment and need the love and structure a home provides.

Participating vendors Saturday include: Camp Bow Wow, Train Your Buddy, Doggie Stylz Collars, Suburban Veterinary Hospital, Sit and Stay Pet Services, Healthy Pet Bakery, Out Of Dodge Travel, Aunt Lulu's Embroidery, 31 Gifts, Everydry Waterproofing, Avocare, Orchard Treats, Bijou's Happy Paws Boutique, Pink Zebra, Country Comfort Inn, Canine Sports Complex, You and Ewe, Therapy Dogs International, Its a Wrap, Cub Scouts and Girls Scouts.

Special events include a microchip clinic, dog agility and herding demonstrations, pet costume contest and games, and a Chinese auction with more than 100 items. A silent auction includes Bills, Sabres and Bisons items, as well as two different vacation experiences

Rescues with adoptable dogs include: Educate A Bull, Linkon's Last Chance, Erie County SPCA and Beagle Freedom.
