News from Lewiston-Porter Middle School finds the Lewiston-Porter Middle School PTSA, a volunteer organization comprised of parents, teachers and administrators, has returned for the 2014-15 school year.

A self-governing group, the PTSA is organized under national and New York state bylaws to serve the youth in the Lewiston-Porter community and is dedicated to enhancing the middle school experiences of students through programs and activities.

Currently, the PTSA is seeking new members and invites the interest of middle school parents. A meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, in the Middle School staff room. Registration will be available.

A PTSA membership brings with it many benefits for parents and, in turn, middle school students. The group interacts with school personnel and other parents, plans volunteer-run activities, has its own newsletter and serves as an active component in middle school life.

Meetings are held several times during the school year. Parental involvement in the group is dependent on the individual.

"We look forward to working with you during the year ahead. By working together, we can make our children's experiences at the Middle School exceptionally rewarding," the PTSA news release states.

PTSA annual membership costs $5. Checks, payable to the Lew-Port Middle School PTSA, or cash, will be accepted at Monday's registration.
