In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Mount St. Mary's Hospital wants to ensure women throughout the community are keeping their health in check. The hospital will host a Women's Health Open House Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 3:30-7:30 p.m. The event is designed for the community to both learn and see the services available that target the needs of women. Tours of both the Center for Women and Imaging Center are part of the event. Light refreshments will be served.

"From digital mammography to our renovated Center for Women facilities, we continue to offer the latest technology and amenities to further enhance the women's and maternity services we provide to the community," said Judith A. Maness, hospital president and CEO. "Join us for the open house to see the facilities, talk with members of our medical staff, and learn more about how to keep your health in check."

The Center for Women is completing a multimillion-dollar renovation on the second floor of the hospital, which includes new physician offices, treatment rooms, labor and delivery suites, new operating rooms, enhanced nursery and renovated private patient rooms.

Mount St. Mary's Imaging Center provides services that are fully accredited by the American College of Radiology. It is federally certified by the FDA under the Mammography Quality Standards Act.

The Mount St. Mary's team of breast health professionals helps women assess the risk of developing breast cancer, guides them through mammograms and clinical exams, and teaches the proper method for breast self-examination.

Counseling, education and support programs will be part of the new initiative.
