Virtuoso honored by Cristoforo Colombo Society

Sylvia Virtuoso, deputy supervisor/town clerk of the Town of Niagara, is among the honorees for the Cristoforo Colombo Society Annual Columbus Day Dinner Dance, according to Ernest Lucantonio, president.

The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Society Banquet Hall, 2223 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls.

Virtuoso will receive the Columbian Award. Virtuoso, as a partner in Guido's Upholstering and Decorating Center, has been a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society since 2009. She was chosen for the award due to her outstanding contributions to the society, the community and her Italian heritage.

The Honorary Columbian Award will be bestowed upon Peter LoJacono. LoJacono is an Italian teacher at Hutch Tech High School in Buffalo, president of the Federation of Italian American Society of WNY and the cultural director of the Galbani Italian Festival of Buffalo.

Also receiving Distinguished Service Awards are Ralph Barbalato and Candace Corsaro.

The Hon. Frank Caruso will be the master of ceremonies. Entertainment will be by Dan Petti. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a sit-down dinner catered by the Como Restaurant at 6:30 p.m. and dancing from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.
