Congressman calls for vigilance in wake of WNY incidents, including most recent ISIS-connected arrest in Rochester
In a meeting of the House Committee on Homeland Security focused on the topic of "Worldwide Threats to the Homeland," Congressman Brian Higgins questioned National Counterterrorism Center Director Matthew Olsen about the escalation of the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) and the impact of air strikes.
In the hearing, which also featured witness testimony by Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey, Higgins raised points about the need for vigilance following repeated terrorism activity linked to Western New York, including the arrest of a man from Rochester charged with providing material support to ISIS.

Higgins is a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security and Ranking Member of its Subcommittee on Counterterrorism & Intelligence. A representative of the Western New York region, Higgins also serves on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
