Seneca Resorts & Casinos is proud to announce the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino has been selected for a 2014 Engineering News Record "Best Projects" Merit Award in the "Sports/Entertainment" category. The $130 million casino project was recognized with the Merit Award in a strong field of competitors that included, among its winners, prestigious projects such as the Madison Square Garden Transformation Project, 4 World Trade Center, Statue of Liberty and the Bill & Melinda Gates Hall.

"This is truly a remarkable accomplishment for our design and construction team to be included in the very prominent group of ENR Merit Award winners," said Seneca Resorts & Casinos Senior Vice President of Design and Construction Rob Chamberlain "With this award, Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino reflects the Seneca Nation's unrelenting commitment to developing world-class properties. Wendel, an award-winning engineering and design company, was responsible for the structural, civil and site engineering of the Buffalo Creek project. Wendel also won the 2014 American Council of Engineering Companies Gold Award for engineering for the innovative reuse of steel on the Buffalo Creek Casino.

Buffalo Creek Casino also was the recipient of the Best New Construction project at the 11th annual Business First Brick by Brick awards in June. A wholly owned management company of the Seneca Nation of Indians, SCMC has constructed numerous projects, including building of the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, the Seneca Allegany Hotel tower, the building of two administrative complexes that serve as the Seneca Nation governmental headquarters, and two 90,000-square-feet-plus community centers (one for each of the nation's Cattaraugus and Allegany territories). SCMC also completed extensive renovation projects at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, including upgrades to the hotel rooms and center suites, the Chairman's Club, and the Thunder Falls Buffet.

Seneca Gaming Corp. President and CEO Cathy Walker said, "Seneca Gaming Corp. is extremely proud of Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino and the acclaim it has received. We are even more proud of the important role the property has played in the continued rejuvenation of the Inner Harbor area as a key entertainment hub in downtown Buffalo."

The $130 million Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino officially opened Aug. 27, 2013. The property attracts approximately 3 million annual visitors, with many coming from Pennsylvania, Ohio, other parts of New York, and Southern Ontario.
